Over the past few months I have focused most of my posts on what you would give up to spend one day with Jesus. Today I would like to look at the question, “What would you accept to spend one day with Jesus?” We are told in John 3:16 that the father loved us so much that, well, lets read it: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” How many of us know that type of love? Maybe better yet, how many of us love someone that much?
We spend our lives looking for that one person in our life that will love us with that type of love yet rarely find it. We never accept it from the first person that loved us that much. With Easter fast approaching we need to turn our eyes to the cross. It is through the cross we learn truly how much the heavenly Father loves us. He allowed His Son to give His live for us yet we barely think about it.
Galatians 6:14 says, “But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” It is when we take our eyes from the cross that we risk losing our way. We are to give ourselves wholly to Him who gave Himself for us.
Matthew 10:38 tells us, “And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.” It is only when we allow the light that streams from Calvary shining in our faces that we may go forth to reveal this light to those in darkness.
Are you willing to accept the cross? Are you willing to accept His love for you over all others? I pray the answer is yes because, when you do, that’s when your love shines through.
