What would you do to spend one day with Jesus?

Exodus 28:9-10

This year I have spent a lot of time studying about the sanctuary. This past week I was reading about the High Priest. I have come to understand something that I have never thought of before; that is, how the names of each tribe were written into the onyx stones that rested upon his shoulders. Exodus 28:9-10: “9 Then you shall take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel: 10 six of their names on one stone and six names on the other stone, in order of their birth.”

The names of the tribes were written in the 12 stones that were in the breastplate that rested upon his heart. Exodus 28:21 reads, And the stones shall have the names of the sons of Israel, twelve according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, each one with its own name; they shall be according to the twelve tribes.”

You see I have come to understand the weight the High Priest had to carry upon his shoulders and his heart for the people of Israel. Likewise, Christ, being our High Priest in the heavenly Sanctuary, bears the weight of His people as well.

So my question today is, “Are you willing to let Jesus carry your burdens?”

This year I will be posting a series of sermons about the sanctuary and how it pointed to Jesus and His role as our High Priest. I hope each of you will take the time to listen and maybe, just maybe, you too will see this Old Testament sanctuary in a New Testament light.
