“For in much wisdom is much grief, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.” (Ecclesiastes 1:18)
With the addition of the internet in our lives the way we get our information has changed dramatically. No more are the days of going to the bookstore to research whatever topic you are interested in. As for pastors we now download and carry around in our iPads that library of books that once sat behind us. Does it help us? Is having all this information at our fingertips a good thing? Well, I would have to say ‘yes and no.’ The internet is like any other tool we have. It is only a good thing when we use it properly.
The problem we have is that Satan is also very skilled with these tools. He will use them to distract us from using them in a manner that is pleasing to God. You see, not only do we have better access to Spiritual things but we also have access to, well, let’s just say less spiritual things. God knows what is in our hearts but Satan knows how to distract our thoughts.
Luke 6:8 says, “But He knew what they were thinking, and He said to the man with the withered hand, “Get up and come forward!” And he got up and came forward.”
We all have a withered hand and only Jesus can heal it. Next time you click on the internet shortcut, ask yourself, “Am I browsing things that are pleasing to Jesus or to Satan?”
