Today I would like to continue the thought, “What would you give up to spend one day with Jesus?”
Colossians 3:12-13 says, “Therefore, as God’s choice, holy and loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Be tolerant with each other and if someone has a complaint against anyone, forgive each other. As the Lord forgave you, so also forgive each other.”
These are the standards we are to live by: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. I am not just talking about Christians when I say we. Jesus asks us to give up certain things like envy, pride, wrath and greed. You get the idea.
Jesus has this amazing plan for each of us. We are told in Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the Lord; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope.” It is only when we lay aside those things can we truly receive His blessings.
I challenge each of you to spend just one day replacing pride with humility and greed with kindness. See how it makes you feel. If you are like me, it will make you feel like you are spending that day with Jesus.
God’s plans are always better than our own & His timing is not ours. When we spend time with God in praise & worship & thanksgiving, He blesses us so that we want the same for others. He fills our hearts to overflowing & we cannot help but spill the love over to others!
